Coccydynia

Much more common in women than men, coccydynia is felt as pain in the tailbone, the very bottom of the spine. The pain is generally felt with sitting, or when any pressure is placed on the bottom of the spine.

The condition is generally caused by a fall or traumatic event. Childbirth can be a cause. the condition can be called a number of things, such as Coccygeal pain, Coccyx pain, Coccyaglia, or Tailbone pain.

Nine of out ten times, coccydynia cases don’t need surgery to find a good resolution. Many cases need no treatment at all.
