Dr. Joyal established Advanced Spine and Pain to help patients suffering from a wide variety of pain conditions regain function and restore quality of life. Dr. Joyal’s extensive training and board certifications in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine allow him to offer state-of-the-art therapies and the most comprehensive treatment options. Through aggressively treating pain conditions, Dr. Joyal believes the opioid crisis our country and communities face can be corrected. Dr. Joyal also offers a full complement of opioid addiction treatment options.
Dr. Joyal is a licensed physician with dual board certifications in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. After graduating from Brigham Young University in Neuroscience in 2004, he then earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin with Honors in Research in 2009. The next steps in training included a Transitional Year at Wheaton-Franciscan St. Joe’s Hospital in Milwaukee with a heavy emphasis on inpatient Internal Medicine, completing the program in 2010. As a resident physician from 2010 to 2013, he specialized in Anesthesiology, receiving training from one of the nation’s most respected and recognized healthcare facilities, Washington University in St. Louis. After completing his specialty training, he further specialized in Pain Medicine and graduated from the University of Utah’s ACGME-accredited fellowship program in 2014. Dr. Joyal is also board-eligible in Addiction Medicine and provides options for medication-assisted treatment for opioid addiction. He is also fluent in Spanish.
In his spare time, Dr. Joyal enjoys mountain biking, water sports, golfing, and spending time with his family.
