Neuroma
A neuroma is a benign growth of nerve tissue most often found between the third and fourth toes. The condition often causes pain between the toes when the individual walks.
Also called a nerve tumor, a neuroma can also result in a burning sensation, tingling, and numbness between the toes and in the ball of the foot. Relief is often found by not walking and rubbing the area on the foot.
Most people who develop neuromas are women. Causes include high-arched feet or flat feet, trauma, and improper footwear.
